Sunday December 14, 2014

12:00pm-2:00pm

A day of light refreshments, camaraderie, and a chance to meet the owners, staff, and outside instructors.  White Stables enjoyed sharing the day with our clients, neighbors, friends, and family to celebrate our new venture in Vonore.  Today's line-up:

  • free pony rides and driving lessons with Performance Horse Trainer, Mike Wahl.

  • our instructors: Pat Sandlin-Bloom (currently also an instructor and trail guide at Blackberry Farm) was available to answer questions about her beginner classes starting after the new year.

  • TEE middle and high school equine studies students and their friends sold baked goods to raise funds for Horse Haven, a local equine rescue.  $50 raised- thanks everyone for helping!

  • We will be offering educational classes at the barn for the community. A couple of our upcoming class instructors were at the open house: Ruth Shelton, the Empirical Herbalist, will be offering various herbal classes such as her late winter workshop, Herbal Beverages. She served some of her delicious blends at the Open House. Photographer, Jessica Weltner, will also be at the barn for the open house.

Sunday December 7, 2014

2:00pm-4:00pm

Danny Thompson, well known Arabian trainer and owner of Bella Vista Equestrian Center, stopped by to say hello and demo all about bits and bridles for our Horse Club youths from 2-4pm. And local hay aficionado, Curtis Yates, brought some bales of assorted hay to demo for a discussion on forage.  Top it off with rides in the round pen for the younger set and a late afternoon trail ride for the more experienced riders and we had a full day of horse fun and learning!

Sunday November 7, 2014

2:00pm-4:00pm

The meet-up started with a meet & greet with some of the horses at the barn, as well as an instructional period in which Jenny and the kids discussed the topic of equine color genetics.  Buddy Brewer, Gold Certified Chris Irwin trainer and coach, visited White Stables and taught the Horse Club about natural horsemanship.  Then the group was shown how to tack up their horses and participated in some led rides around the arena.

1:00pm-3:00pm

Does your child dream of riding a pony? Have you had a life-long desire to ride, but are worried that health issues or age may make that difficult now? Do you want to ride a horse, but are having trouble getting over your own fears of getting started? Have you been riding for years and want to try something new? Or do you want to share your love of horses with your grandkids?

Driving ponies or mini horses may be right for you! Come to the White Stables Open House on Friday, February 6 from 5:00-6:00 to find out all about DRIVING. This free event is open to the public and hosted by Mike Wahl. Come meet his equine team, Danny (mini gelding and top 3 at Nationals in Western Pleasure Driving), Lovey (10 year miniature mare), and Ken Mar’s Special Addition aka Andy (American Show Pony National Champion Pleasure Driving and 5x National Champion in Halter).

Driving is for all ages and skill levels. It can be very slow-paced which is great for younger or more cautious riders, or lively and exciting for thrill-seeking or competitive riders. It is also an excellent way for accomplished equestrians to share their love of horses with their friends and family. Don’t miss out on this free and fun intro to the World of Driving. Mike Wahl is available for lessons at White Stables if you would can’t get enough at the Open House and wish to follow through with additional instruction.

Friday-Sunday

March 20-22 2015

3 day clinic with Jennie Jackson, pioneer of Dressage en Gaite, applying dressage to the gaited horse. Each enrolled rider will get a private 1 hour lesson with Jennie on Day 1 and again on Day 2. Participants will be able to enroll in the time slot that works best for their schedule. You may bring more than one horse and swap one out for the other within your one hour lesson. You are welcome to watch and ask questions before and after your one-on-one for the duration of the day (approximately a 10 hour+ day). Day 3 will be real life application! Riders will go out singly or in twos with Jennie and hit the trails to put their new found skills into motion under Jennie's expert supervision. The day will end with a group trail ride! The improvements made on riding skills at this 3 day clinic, need not be an isolated experience. Because of our proximity to the Jackson's ranch, it is possible to get follow up instruction on a return visit in the future. Jennie is happy to give you homework to work on so you can reach all your goals!

Welcome to the Coppertop TWH herd!

White Stables is proud to announce they are the new owners of the last six Mr Coppertop offspring to be offered for sale out of the Singleton's farm in middle TN. Mr Coppertop (TWH, sire: Pride's Generator, dam: Delight's Good Lady) was named one of the most versatile horses of his breed, nicknamed the "Wonderhorse" because his intelligence, stamina, athleticism and disposition enabled him to excel in so many disciplines. Honors include: '94 World Champion Trail Pleasure, '97 & '00 World Champion Obstacle Trail, TWHBEA Supreme Versatility, WHOA ROM Versatility, '98 International Grand Champion O/A/T, '95 WHOA Overall High Point Horse, PWHAT Horse of the Year. Coppertop was the Singleton's long-standing stallion of choice, bred to mares selected from 43 years of breeding for more natural Walking Horses; talent, disposition and beauty are the qualities these mares are known for. The Singletons bred, raised, trained and showed their horses and now are ready to retire; we are thrilled to welcome these three geldings and three mares to their new home at White Stables: Mr Right (black gelding w/star), Mr Big Stuff (black gelding), Snoopy Coppertop (black gelding w/strip/snip and coronets), Summer Girl (chestnut mare w/star), Miss Hollywood (black mare), Miss Rose (chestnut mare w/star/snip). We can't wait to get to know these horses better. Their breeding and upbringing are a winning combination that produce superior trail, pleasure, and show horses. They will become a part of the White Stables lesson, show, and trail riding program as well as our horse sales division.
